NAUGATUCK — Edward J. Kazimir, 67, husband of Linda (Kleiva) Kazimir, died peacefully on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, N.Y.

Ed was born on June 3, 1948 in Waterbury, the son of the late Paul and Dora (Urbinati) Kazimir, and had been a lifelong Naugatuck resident. Ed graduated from Naugatuck High School, Class of 1966, and attended Post College. Ed was a disabled U.S. Marine Corps veteran, having proudly served in the Vietnam War, Fox Trot Company second battalion, 26th Marines 3rd Marine Division. Ed was a member of the V.F.W. Crusader Post 1946, where he served as the permitee for many years and took pride in organizing yearly veteran trips to Washington D.C for Veteran’s Day, the American Legion Post 17 and the Veterans Who Care Committee.

Throughout his career, Ed worked at Scovill Manufacturing, the chemical division of Uniroyal, Inc., Siemen Company, Naugatuck High School, and, with his wife Linda, owned and operated Kazzy’s in Bethany. Ed loved life and connecting with people. He took great pride in his country and family. His eight grandchildren were the light of his life. Ed was a parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Church.

In addition to Linda, his loving wife of 46 years, Ed is survived by his daughters, Terri Kelley and her husband Christopher Kelley of New Hampshire; Wendy Dumonski and her husband Mark Dumonski of North Carolina; Kate Riva and her husband Brian Riva of Connecticut; his sister, Elaine Fredericks of Connecticut; his grandchildren, Caitlyn, Ashley, Madison, Alexa, Brianna, Zachary, Holley and Hayden, and his niece, Chrissy Okoski and her husband Brian Okoski and daughter Lilah. In addition to his parents, Ed was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Bill Fredericks.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, June 6, 2016 at 11 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church St., Naugatuck. Burial with military honors will follow in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck. Calling hours are Sunday, June 5, 2016 from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck. Members of the Naugatuck Veterans Council will assemble at the funeral home on Sunday at 5:45 p.m.
