NAUGATUCK — Mr. Edward H. Bergin, 73, of Naugatuck passed away on Sunday, Feb. 22, 2015 after a long illness.
Mr. Bergin was born in Waterbury on Feb. 10, 1942 a son of the late Vincent and Lillian (Grossenbach) Bergin. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Bergin worked at Congross Tools and Eastern Malleable Iron for many years.
Mr. Bergin proudly served our country as a member of the United States Army from 1964 to 1966.
Mr. Bergin is survived by his partner of over 40 years, Miguel Arroyo; a sister, Shirley Froelick and her husband, Ernie, of Naugatuck; two nieces, Mary Carey and her husband, Paul, and Lisa Gould and her husband, Tom; his nephew and Godson, Thomas Froelick; an aunt; Bernice Bergin, several cousins especially Elizabeth Russo with whom he was raised. He was predeceased by a brother, Vincent Bergin, and a nephew, James Froelick.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, March 2, 2015 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 338 N. Main St., Naugatuck. Family and friends are asked to please meet directly at the church. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be held at Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Road, Prospect on Sunday, March 1, 2015 from 3 to 5 p.m. The Naugatuck Veterans Council will assemble at the funeral home on Sunday at 4:45 p.m. Military honors will be presented at the funeral home on Sunday at 5 p.m.
