PROSPECT — Dorothy Clark Cappella, 87, the widow of Paul Donald Cappella, her partner in more than 60 years of happy marriage, died peacefully on Thursday, Sept. 8, 2016 at St. Mary’s Hospital.

Dorothy was born on Oct. 2, 1928 in Waterbury, a daughter of the late William J. and Helen (Brewster) Clark, and had lived in Prospect for the past 30 years. Dorothy was employed with and later retired from the 2nd National Bank of New Haven and was also a professional hairdresser. She was an avid reader of literature and history, and enjoyed cooking. Throughout her life she was an advocate for the humane treatment of animals and most of all she loved children. As a life member of The Daughters of the American Revolution, she was proud of her connection to the patriots of that generation.

Dorothy is survived by her brother-in-law, Joseph Cappella of Florida; her sister-in-law, Grace Adams of Guilford, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband and her parents, Dorothy was predeceased by her sister, Eleanor Clark.

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Visiting Nurses of Watertown for the outstanding care they consistently provided to Dorothy, and to the doctors, nurses and chaplain of St Mary’s Hospital Intensive Care Unit for their remarkable skill and compassion.
