MIDDLEBURY — Cheryl Lois (Levine) Dermody, 72, the wife of William “Bill” Dermody died peacefully on July 25, 2017 in the VITAS Innovative Care Unit at St. Mary’s Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Cheryl was born on Jan. 5, 1945 in Langley Field, Va., a daughter of the late James O. and Charlotte B. (Melendez) Levine. She spent many years working in the cafeteria at Middlebury Elementary School, and retired once Bill became sick with Alzheimer’s so she could devote herself to his wellbeing.

Cheryl is survived by her husband of 48 years, Bill, and their three daughters, Doreen Krokosky and husband, Ray, Maureen Bain and husband, Jim, Kellie Weygant and husband, Kris; her sister, Donna Levine-Nordstrom and husband, Gary; her brothers, James Levine and wife, Marian; Robert Levine and wife, Lynette; and her seven grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 28, 2017 at St. John of the Cross Church, 1263 West St., Middlebury. Those planning on attending the funeral Mass are kindly asked to go directly to the church. Burial will follow in Lake Elise Cemetery in Middlebury. Family and friends may visit from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 27, 2017, at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck.
