Obituary: Charles R. DeCarlo

MIDDLEBURY — Mr. Charles R. DeCarlo, 86, passed away at his home on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 after a long illness. He was the husband of the late Pauline (Farley) DeCarlo.

Charles DeCarlo was born in Naugatuck on Feb. 8, 1928, the son of the late Pasquale and Margaret (Nardello) DeCarlo.

Charles was retired from Naugatuck High School where was an art teacher for many years. He also taught in Woodbury in his earlier years. He enjoyed art and was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. Charles also retired from the United States Marine Corps having proudly served his country during the Korean War.

Mr. DeCarlo is survived by a son, David DeCarlo and his wife Debbie of North Kingstown, R.I.; two sisters, Rose Rubano of Wolcott and Theresa Perugini of Wolcott and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews including Robert DeCarlo and Tim DeCarlo. He was predeceased by a son, Jay DeCarlo; a daughter, Denise DeCarlo; a sister, Lena Napoletano, and six brothers, Tony DeCarlo, Rocco DeCarlo Sr., Patsy DeCarlo, Joseph DeCarlo, William DeCarlo and James DeCarlo.

Calling hours will be held at the Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Road, Prospect, on Friday, April 25, 2014 from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 9 a.m. at Prospect Memorial Funeral Home. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Connecticut State Veterans Cemetery, Bow Lane, Middletown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Soldiers’, Sailors’ and Marines’ Fund, 864 Wethersfield Ave., Hartford, CT 06114-3184.
