Cedrick A. Taylor, 41, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Florida.

He was born on Oct. 11, 1975 in Waterbury. Ceddy was a communicant of the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, and a 1993 graduate of Sacred Heart High School where he was a member of the track team and captain of the wrestling team. He loved fishing anywhere, anytime, and he was a lifelong Yankees and Giants fan, and most recently an avid fan of the Miami Heat. Cedrick’s life was filled with love and joy for his family, most especially his precious daughter, Leah.

He attended Naugatuck Valley Community College before enlisting in the U.S. Army in 2000. He completed basic training with Company 795th MP Battalion 2nd Platoon at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri, followed by special training at Ft. Riley in KS and Ft. Stewart in Georgia. Cedrick was stationed in So. Korea in 2002 and was a member of the 549th MP Company deployed to Iraq for Operation Iraq Freedom in 2003. After five years and an honorable discharge from the U.S. Army, Cedrick returned to Ft. Stewart where he was employed as a civil police sergeant before moving to Miami in 2013 to pursue private security detail.

He is survived by his parents, Alton Sr. and Helen (Greaney) Taylor; daughter, Leah of Hinesville, Ga.; brother, Alton Jr. of New Britain; and sister, Jacqulyn Evette Taylor of Waterbury. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends he held dear, including Ana Taylor, his former wife and mother of Leah. He was predeceased by his stepdaughter, Amanda Wright.

The family will receive friends at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 N. Main St., Naugatuck on Friday, Dec. 2, 2016 from 6 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, 74 W. Main St., Waterbury. Those attending are asked to please meet at the church. Burial will be in New Pine Grove Cemetery, Waterbury.
