Carole Lynn Calo, beloved mother, gramma, GG, companion, sister, aunt, great-aunt and friend, of Connecticut with homes in Florida and Rhode Island, passed away on Friday, Feb. 19, 2016 surrounded by her loving family and her companion after a courageous battle with cancer.

Carole was born on July 23, 1948 in Waterbury, a daughter of the late William and Harriet (Palmer) Swick. She was a graduate of Naugatuck High School Class of 1966 and was an employee of Uniroyal before earning her real estate license. Carole then went on to work for Rupwani & Associates as a real estate agent until her retirement. She was an avid golfer, enjoyed traveling with her family and friends and loved spending time exercising at the YMCA. She enjoyed spending time at her homes in Boca Raton, Fla. and Westerly, R.I., being outdoors, spending time at the beach and she loved visiting lighthouses along the East Coast with her companion, Bruno.

The most important thing to Carole was her family and those she loved. She absolutely loved becoming a GG to her great-grandchildren, who she spent so much time with over the past six months. We were all so blessed to have shared some of the most amazing and funny memories anyone could ever have with her. Carole was adored by everyone who met her. She will always be remembered for her amazing sense of humor, her beautiful smile, her selflessness and her willingness to help everyone she knew.

Carole is survived by her daughters, Michelle Barringer and her husband, Brett, and Amy Calo-Stewart and her husband, Marc; her grandchildren, Elizabeth Gordon, Scott Gordon, Paige Stewart and Brett Stewart; her great-grandchildren, Braelynn Caporuscio and Sylas Gordon; her companion, Bruno Amato; her sister, Patricia Brewster and her husband, William; her nieces and nephews; her great-nieces and great-nephews; her former husband and close friend, Anthony Calo, Jr.; as well as the countless friends she made over the years. A very special thank you to her niece Cindi Errett and her husband, Mark, for all of the help and support they have been throughout her battle with cancer.

Besides her parents, Carole was predeceased by her brother, William Swick; her stepmother, Alice Swick and her great-grandson, Bentley Caporuscio.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 26, 2016 at 11 a.m. at The United Methodist Church of Naugatuck, 208 Meadow St. Burial will follow in Grove Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday, Feb. 25, 2016 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck.
