NAUGATUCK — Beverly Ann (Baummer) Kamen, 70, of Naugatuck, passed away peacefully at her home, on Sunday, May 17, 2015, surrounded by family and friends, following a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was the widow of Richard H. Kamen, who passed away in 1995.

Beverly was born on March 13, 1945, to the late Edward and Gertrude (Krampetz) Baummer and resided in Naugatuck her entire life. Having attended Naugatuck schools, she graduated from high school in 1963 as valedictorian of her class. Also a graduate of Quinnipiac University, she held many positions, including those of legal secretary to several attorneys. Bev also enjoyed her jobs at Nelson’s Pharmacy and Beacon Brook Health Center, both in Naugatuck, where she greeted old friends and made many new ones. She loved her family, her friends, the New York Yankees, Country and Western music, and going to concerts. She found comfort in attending both Immanuel Lutheran and St. Vincent Ferrer Churches in Naugatuck. The pets she had during her life, JoJo, Benny, Bandaid, and Mittens had captured her heart with love.

Beverly is survived by her son, David Kamen, of Naugatuck, with whom she lived, and who was her devoted caregiver during her lengthy illness, and his girlfriend, Julie Varga, of Yonkers, N.Y. She is also survived by her beloved daughter, Jill Morgan, and her husband, Keith, of Rockford, Tenn.; one granddaughter, Brianna Salvati, of Rockford, Tenn.; her sister, Gail Martin, and her husband, Charles, of Cheshire, and her brother-in-law, Bruce Kamen, and his wife, Sandra, of Prospect, several nieces and nephews, cousins, and very dear friends, including her longtime caring and loving friend, Chris Herrity.

Her life will be celebrated with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Vincent Ferrer Church, 1006 New Haven Road, Naugatuck, on Friday, May 22, 2015 at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Grove Cemetery, Naugatuck. Calling hours are Thursday, May 21, 2015 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck.
