NAUGATUCK — Barbra Ruth Henrichs went home to the Lord on Monday, March 30, 2015 at Waterbury Hospital.

Barbara was born in Kankakee, Ill., on May 3, 1933 to the late John and Florence (Wilkinson) Henrichs. Upon moving from Illinois, the family first settled in Beacon Falls and then later in Naugatuck.

After graduating Naugatuck High School, she began working at Lewis Engineering in Naugatuck and ultimately retired from there, where she worked as a bookkeeper.

When she was younger, Barb loved traveling and did so in Europe as well the United States. During her travels, she started to pick up bells from the different places she went, thus starting what became an extensive collection. But the bells weren’t the only collection she would begin. Her next, and probably just as large collection, would be VHS movies and old TV shows. You could always find her watching them instead of the regular TV programs. Barb also loved playing games on her computer, which got into a competition of sorts with her sister, Muggy and her niece, Maryellen. They would be in a race to see who would finish the game and after they all finished, it was then on to the next game and the competition began all over again.

Along with being a member of the Naugatuck United Methodist Church, Barb had been a Sunday school teacher for many years. She absolutely loved that job as well as all of her kids that she had through the years. Barb will be sorely missed by all her friends and family.

She leaves behind her namesake and special daughter, Ruth Teeple and her wife, Mary; her sister, Marilyn; her brother, Bob; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great nephews, as well as her newest great-great nephew, Mason James Dow; her best friends, Sue Volpe, husband, Steve, Matt, Adam and Sage, who were loved dearly by Barbara. Ruth and Mary were instrumental in getting Barb the best healthcare possible. With their love and devotion, she was able to stay here with us all, another one and a half years. They were angels for Barb, and were deeply loved by her and her family. Barbara was predeceased by her sisters, Margaret Moruska, Virginia Andrews, and her niece, Cheryl Ann Moruska.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 2, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St. Burial will follow in Grove Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Thursday morning from 10 a.m. until the start of the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 825 Brook St., I-91 Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
