PROSPECT — Anne M. (Gruessinger) Rogers, 92, the widow of Gilbert W. Rogers, died peacefully on July 28, 2018 in the VITAS Innovative Hospice Care Unit at St. Mary’s Hospital with loving family by her side.

Anne was born on May 6, 1926 in Waterbury, the daughter of the late August and Anna (Bayer) Gruessinger, and had lived in Prospect for most of her life. After studying at Simmons College, where she met her lifelong friend, Gloria Sypher (recently departed), and then graduating from St. Joseph’s College, Anne worked for many years at both St. Mary’s and Waterbury hospitals as a nurse anesthetist. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, duck pin bowling, playing cards and enjoying the mountains at her beautiful home in Vermont.

Anne is survived by her daughter and her son-in-law, Krissy and Larry Segal of Prospect; her grandchildren, Joshua Segal and Lydia Segal, and several cousins. In addition to her husband and her parents, Anne was predeceased by her daughter, Karen “Rusty” Marti.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, Aug. 3, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Round Hill Cemetery, West Townsend, Vermont. There are no calling hours, and arrangements have been entrusted to the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck.
