WATERBURY — Mr. Andrew M. Walker, Jr., 80, of Waterbury, died Sunday, June 14, 2015 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury.

Mr. Walker was born in Pawtucket, R.I. on July 15, 1934, a son of the late Andrew M. Walker, Sr. and the late Mildred F. (Baldwin) Walker. His family moved to Waterbury in 1939 where he attended Washington Grammar School and graduated from Leavenworth High School in 1953. He attended the Teterboro School of Aeronautics from 1957 to 1958 and worked in the experimental section at Kaman Corporation from 1961-1964 and as a turbine blade balancer at the Pratt and Whitney jet engine overhaul plant in Cheshire from 1964 until his retirement in July of 1999. He enjoyed model airplanes and helicopters and working outdoors. He, most of all, loved helping others.

Mr. Walker proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army from 1953-1956.

Mr. Walker is survived by a brother, Alan Walker of Prospect, and his longtime friend, Edna Dufresne.

Private funeral services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. The Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Road, Prospect is in charge of arrangements.
