Obituary: Alice S. Ramos

NAUGATUCK — Alice S. Ramos, 92, the widow of Mario L. Ramos, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Sept. 17, 2015 surrounded by her loving family.

Alice was born at sea on Aug. 29, 1923, a daughter of the late John Marques Santos and Lena Simoes Santos and had lived in Naugatuck for most of her life. Alice was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. An incredibly kind and special lady, Alice will be remembered as a “grandmother to everyone.”

Mrs. Ramos is survived by her daughters, Alice Fisher and her husband, Jack, of San Diego, Calif., and Marian Santos of Westminster, Colo.; her sons, John Ramos and his wife, Cheryl, of Naugatuck, Thomas Ramos and his wife, Rose, of Naugatuck, with whom she made her home, and Daniel Ramos and his wife, Tara, of Poway, Calif.; her sister, Eva Hailey of Virginia; her 16 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and large extended family. In addition to her husband and her parents, Mrs. Ramos was predeceased by her son, Mario J. Ramos and her sister, Adeline Praleikas.

The family would like to thank the staff of Seasons Hospice and caregiver Shelly Gibbs for the excellent care that they gave to Alice.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015 at 11 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church St. Burial will be private and there are no calling hours. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave.
