Alice loved life. She was an avid bowler, an enthusiastic golfer, and a founding member of her favorite group, “The Fabulous Five,” an exuberant group of friends who played cards and had decades of fun. Alice belonged to and loved being a part of the Emblem Club, joining in 1962, and continued being active until her death. She was club president in 1990-1991, held several offices, and chaired innumerable committees. She was a very active member of the Connecticut State Association of Emblem Clubs and loved to go on the yearly National Supreme Emblem Club Conventions all over the country. She was also a member of the Naugatuck Woman’s Club, the St. Francis School Foundation, and a communicant of Saint Francis Parish in Naugatuck. Additionally, for many years she was a dedicated volunteer serving for both the Red Cross and Waterbury Hospital. Prior to her commitment to volunteering, Alice worked as executive secretary at Chromium Corporation of America, New England Electric, Sullivan Electric, and in charge of accounts payable for the Skinner Corporation.

Alice is survived by her sister, Dorothy Sieff of North Palm Beach, Fla. (Robert deceased); two stepdaughters, Regina Birdsell (William) of Old Lyme and Jacquelyn Sullivan (Jeanne Manfredi) of East Lyme. She is predeceased by her brother, Edward Wedge, and sister-in-law, Anne Wedge. She was also predeceased by her former husband, Edward Slogeris. She leaves her grandson, Scott Birdsell (Natalee), and her great-grandson, Connor, of North Carolina. She also leaves a niece, Alexandria Palmquist; a nephew, Daniel Sieff (Celeste); grandnephews, Evan and Brindin Sieff, and grandniece, Laurin, all of Juniper, Fla. Countless other nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews and friends from around the country mourn her death and celebrate her life.

Her family is thankful for the caring and supportive staff at Beacon Brook Healthcare Center and Vitas Hospice for the care and compassion throughout Alice’s stay.
