Obituary: Algirdas Burksa

NAUGATUCK — Algirdas Burksa, 65, of Naugatuck, passed away peacefully with his wife by his side, after a long illness, on the evening of Sunday, July 10, 2016 at St. Mary’s Vitas.

Born on Sept. 13 1950, Al was one of two children of Frank and Anastasia Burksa. He was predeceased by his brother, George Burksa.

He leaves behind his wife and soul mate of 34 years, Helen Lantieri-Burksa, and their five children: daughter, Dawn Dessureau and her husband James Sr.; a son, Al Burksa Jr. and his wife Tracey; a son, Daniel Lantieri and his wife Heather; a son, DavidLantieri and his wife Teresa; and a daughter, Tina Cruz and her husband Isabello. He was the proud grandfather of 11 grandchildren, one great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews.

Al was a devoted husband. He enjoyed fishing, playing the guitar, camping, cook outs and most of all spending time with his family.

Family and friends may call at Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday, July 15, 2016, with a service at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery.
