NAUGATUCK — The Naugatuck High School DECA chapter will be well represented at the national competition next month.

The chapter had 14 entries, comprising 24 total students in individual and team events, at the state DECA competition March 1 at the Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville. Ten of the entries, totaling 19 students, placed in the top three of their respective categories to earn a spot at the national competition at the DECA International Career Development Conference in April in Nashville, Tenn.

Hannah Lauer and Meghan Lauer (Sports and Entertainment Marketing Research), Ariana Henry and Caitlin Whiteley (Financial Literacy Promotion Project), and P.J. Morrissey and Kelly Murphy (Advertising Campaign) won first place in their respective categories.

Floraine Evardo and Ukti Ishanpara (Learn and Earn Project), Leah Gombas and Ciara Stella (Hospitality and Tourism Operations), and Michael Huzior (Restaurant and Food Service Management) finished in second in their categories.

Kyla Magalhaes and Anastacia Teixeira (Hospitality and Tourism Operations Project), Kayla Kusy and Chennel Rivera (Community Service Project), Kody Butler and Lorant Sedenski (Finance Operations Research Project), and Kerry Fitzmaurice and Julia Was (Fashion Merchandising Promotion Plan) took third in their categories.
