The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) has endorsed of Republican Lezlye Zupkus in her bid for the state House of Representatives.

“Lezlye Zupkus impressed us with her commitment making Connecticut more competitive by cutting the size of government, reducing taxes and getting the regulatory bureaucracies out of the way,” said NFIB State Director Andrew Markowski, in a press release issued by Zupkus’s campaign.  “She’s got strong experience in the private sector and she clearly understands how small businesses work and what we need to improve the state’s economic climate.”

Zupkus, of Prospect, is challenging Democrat state Rep. Vickie Nardello for the state House seat in the 89th District, which covers Prospect, Bethany, and a portion of Cheshire.

Zupkus’ endorsement came from NFIB’s Save America’s Free Enterprise Trust (SAFE), the association’s political action committee, and is based on positions regarding key small-business issues including health care, taxes, and labor and regulatory issues, according to the release.

According to its website, NFIB is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization founded in 1943 with a mission to promote and protect the right of its members to own, operate and grow their businesses.
