5K Fun Run Saturday

NAUGATUCK – The Naugatuck YMCA 5K and Kids Fun Run will take place on Saturday at 9 a.m. at 21 Cedar St., across the street from the Naugatuck YMCA, 284 Church St.

The borough Y & Rotary are hosting the second annual 5K, a course that is a mostly flat and fast that follows borough streets along the Naugatuck River.

The start and finish line will be in front of the Y. There will be giveaways for the first 100 registrants. People can register on the Naugatuck YMCA website.

On the same day, another Y event, Healthy Kids Day and Summer Camp Open House will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to support physical and mental health with activitiesthat include swimming, inflatable obstacle course, awesome vendors, S.T.E.M activities and to receive a $25 discount on summer camp registration. This event will line up as 1000 Ys across the nation will celebrate the 32nd Anniversary of Healthy Kids Day, according to a press release.

Animal Control fundraiser

NAUGATUCK – The Naugatuck Animal Control is holding a fundraiser on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Elks Lodge #967 located at 758 Rubber Ave. for raise funds for a new facility and supplies.

The event will have cornhole activities including switcholio, four game round robin, double elimination bracket. There will be a $20 entry and the event will also include raffles and a bar downstairs. For more information, people can call 203-729-4324.

Parent council nominations

NAUGATUCK – The Parent School Council is looking for nominations for the Raymond K. Foley award.

PSC members look to make a decision at its next meeting on April 26 and will stop taking in applications on April 25.

People can find the application on Naugatuck Board of Education member Marilyn O’Donnell’s facebook social media page on the on the Parents Square app which school district members can access through the school board website.

Lions Club wine tasting

NAUGATUCK – The Naugatuck Lions Spring Wine Tasting will take place on Sunday, April 21 from noon until 4 p.m. at the Crystal Room located at 98 School St.

Tickets cost $40 and attendees will fellowship while snacking on charcuterie boards and learning more about the process of making wine. Tickets are limited and will be available at the door. Tickets for raffle prizes will also be available to purchase.
