NAUGATUCK — There will be new leadership at the Early Childhood Center at Central Avenue.

The Board of Education this month appointed Meagan Rolla as the new early childhood center coordinator effective July 1. The early childhood center houses the school district’s preschool programs.

Rolla, a Stratford resident, has been the school district’s lead counselor since December 2018. She was also an administrative intern at Hop Brook Elementary School this year. She has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Sacred Heart University and a master’s degree in school counseling from Fairfield University.

Rolla said she is excited to start her new role and is looking forward to partnering with students, staff and families.

“My goal for this position is to cultivate a learning environment that ensures that all students have a positive first experience with school and can be the best versions of themselves,” Rolla said. “Collaboration with staff and families is critical to me, and I want to ensure that all stakeholders have a voice and are valued.”

Board of Education Chairman Jeff Litke said the school community is excited about the hire.

“She has done a wonderful job as a lead counselor and she will continue that great work at the early childhood center,” Litke said.

Rolla will replace Kristine Murphy-Salvucci, who will start as principal at Salem Elementary School in July.

Rolla’s salary effective July 1 will be $105,156, which is 90% of the salary for the position at the first step under the school administrator’s contract, Human Resources Director John Lawlor said.
