NAUGATUCK — The borough will pick up debris from Tropical Storm Isaias curbside starting this weekend.

Residents must call the Public Works Department at 203-720-7071 by 3:30 p.m. Friday for curbside pickup. Public works will pick up storm debris only — tree limbs and branches, but not tree stumps, construction debris or household items — on weekends for up to the next five weeks.

Public works won’t schedule appointments for pickups or call before workers are coming. Residents must have debris on the curb by 7 a.m. on Saturday. Once workers pick up debris from a neighborhood, they will not return.

Borough officials estimate the pickup to cost up to $35,000 in overtime and expect to be reimbursed 75% of the costs by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
