Naugatuck and Region 16 students will still have their April vacation.

The school districts implemented distance learning programs for students while schools are closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Officials in both school districts announced that students will have a break from the online learning for April vacation, which includes Good Friday, April 10, and runs through April 17 in both districts. The distance learning programs will resume April 20.

Region 16, which is comprised of Beacon Falls and Prospect, is suspending its meals program through spring break.

Naugatuck will still offer free breakfast and lunch for children under 18 years old on April 13 and April 15 during the break. People can pick up two meals per child on April 13 and three meals on April 15 for the days the program isn’t running. The district will also pass out two meals per child on Thursday because the program won’t be offered on Good Friday.

People can pick up food from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the following locations: Naugatuck High School, Southwood Garden, Lantern Park, the Early Childhood Center at Central Avenue, Andrew Avenue Elementary School, Maple Hill Elementary School, Hop Brook Elementary School, City Hill Middle School, Cross Street Intermediate School, Western Elementary School, and Salem Elementary School.
