FORT MILL, S.C. — William Patrick Owens, fondly known as Bill, passed away on July 31, 2024, at the age of 80, in Fort Mill, S.C.
Bill was born on Dec. 21, 1943, in Bridgeport, Conn., and spent his early years in Milford, Conn., before settling in Naugatuck, Conn., with his beloved wife, Audrey, to raise their family. Upon retiring, they moved to Palmetto, Fla., and later, Bill resided with his daughter Michelle in Fort Mill, S.C.
Bill retired from Avco Lycoming in Stratford, Conn., after more than 30 years of service as a timekeeper/expeditor. He was a proud alumnus of Notre Dame High School in West Haven, Conn., class of 1961.
Bill’s life was marked by a deep passion for Walt Disney World, engaging with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, computers, and gardening. He also enjoyed decorating for the holidays and was an avid puzzle and game enthusiast.
Bill is survived by his daughters, Dawn Braley and her husband Gary, Michelle Cordonier and her husband Daniel; his son, Edward Owens; his daughter, Kathleen Pregano and her husband Ricky.
Bill also leaves behind seven grandchildren, Danielle Evans, Samantha Pregano, Jason Braley, Tony Pregano, Kaitlynn Cordonier, Nicholas Owens, and Jessica Owens; as well as five great-grandchildren, Adrienne, Lucas, Logan, Ariel, and Liam. Additionally, he is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his father, Christopher Owens; his mother, Eleanor Johnson Owens; his wife, Audrey Owens; his sister, Susan Allison and his brother, Christopher Owens.
Family and friends will gather to honor and celebrate Bill’s life on Friday, Aug. 23, 2024, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck, CT 06770.
