NAUGATUCK — A former Kentucky Fried Chicken manager who allegedly stole nearly $12,000 from the fast-food restaurant has been charged with second-degree larceny.

Iris Estella, 46, of Waterbury, surrendered  to borough police March 13 on an arrest warrant following a complaint by workers at the KFC, 115 Bridge St., in December 2022, a police news release states.

Estella, initially held on $20,000, posted bond and is scheduled to return to court April 3 following her first appearance March 13.

“Officers found instances of numerous missing cash deposits beginning early November into December,” the release states.

Naugatuck public information officer Danielle Durette said about 10 cash deposits disappeared.

Borough officers worked with the KFC director of operations and district manager to determine Estella was the last known person to have access to the missing deposits, police allege.

She was directly responsible for overseeing the cash deposits from the store to the bank, police said.
