NAUGATUCK — Angelo Anthony “Sonny” Ciarlo, 95, of Naugatuck, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 22, 2024, at Complete Care at Glendale Center with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Amelia (Mazzeo) Ciarlo for 68 years.

Sonny was born in Waterbury on July 14, 1929, a son of the late Orazio and Anna (Vaccaro) Ciarlo. He was a graduate of Crosby High School and was a proud U.S. Army Corps of Engineers veteran during the Korean conflict.

Before his retirement, Sonny worked as an eyelet tool maker for Ball & Socket in Cheshire for more than 40 years. Before that he worked for Cly-Del Manufacturing. He enjoyed traveling and cherished spending time with his family.

Besides his wife Amelia, of Naugatuck, Angelo leaves behind to cherish his memory his sons, Robert Ciarlo and his wife Debra, of Gilmanton, N.H., Joseph Ciarlo and his wife Mary Beth, of Wolcott; three grandchildren, Samantha, Michael and Nicole Ciarlo; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brother, Thomas Ciarlo and sister, Felicia Barbieri.

Angelo’s funeral was to be on Friday, July 26, 2024, at 9 a.m. from Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, to Our Lady of Lourdes Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial with full military honors was to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours were to be on Thursday evening, July 25, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
