Acacio R. Morgado

NAUGATUCK — Acacio R. Morgado, husband of the late Isabel (Neves) Morgado, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 19, 2024, at Saint Mary’s Hospital VITAS Inpatient Hospice Care unit.

He was born in Portugal on Sept. 12, 1930, son of the late Antonio and Herminia (Enriques) Morgado. Acacio came to the United States in 1973 with his family and settled in Naugatuck.

He was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and all animals, especially his cats.

He leaves his family to honor his memory: Benvinda Sengupta and her husband Dipankar, of Portugal, Acacio Morgado and his wife Ana Alves Morgado, of South Carolina, Ana Pereira and her husband Louis, of New Jersey, and Paula Hoponick of Torrington; his four grandchildren, Tina, Sonia, Christopher and Lauren; and his two great-grandchildren, Jack and Ace.

The Morgado family wishes to thank the staff at Beacon Brook Health Center and Saint Mary’s Hospital VITAS Inpatient Hospice Unit for the kind and compassionate care given to Acacio during his illness.

All services were to be private with burial in St. James Cemetery.
