Naugatuck kicking off program with block party

NAUGATUCK — Naugatuck Public Schools is participating in the federally-funded Seamless Summer Food Program and getting things started with a party.

The program provides free meals to all children 18 years old and under. A Summer Lunch Block Party will be held June 21 from 12 to 20 p.m. on the Town Green to kick off the program and raise awareness of it.

The party will feature children-friendly activities, free lunch for all children 18 years old and under, and free lunch for the first 50 parents attending with a child.

The program runs on weekdays from June 26 to Aug. 18, with the exception of July 4.

Meals will be served from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Naugatuck High School, 543 Rubber Ave., and Central Avenue School, 28 Central Ave.

Meals will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at the following locations: Baummers Pond, Mill Street; Legion Field, 2 Conrad St.; Andrew Avenue School, 140 Andrew Ave.; Salem School, 124 Meadow St.; Linden Park, 1 Curtiss St.; YMCA, 284 Church St.; Hop Brook School, 75 Crown St.
