NAUGATUCK — Three antique cars and a motorcycle were destroyed when a three-car garage erupted in flames Sunday night.

Borough firefighters were met with heavy flames when they arrived at 124 North Hoadley St. shortly after 6 p.m., Fire Capt James Trzaski said.

Trzaski said three antique cars and a motorcycle were inside the burning structure. Their value could not be determined Sunday night.

“It’s a large loss for that homeowner,” Trzaski said.

No injuries were reported.

Trzaski said firefighters’ efforts to contain the fire were hindered because containers of gasoline and propane were inside the garage and some of the gasoline leaked.

The fire was brought under control by 8 p.m., when firefighters worked to put out remaining embers.

Trzaski said firefighters from Beacon Falls and Prospect were called in to cover the town while borough firefighters worked on the garage fire.

It was not clear as of this post what caused the fire, which remained under investigation.

Borough records show the property has been owned by Joanne and Raymond Ryan Jr. since 1978.
