NAUGATUCK — Due to Superstorm Sandy the Public Works Department made some changes and additions to its collections.

The first week of leaf collection has been pushed back to Nov. 5 to Nov. 9, other weeks remain the same: Nov 12. to Nov. 16, and Nov. 26 to Nov. 30.

Trash and recycling collections are running one day late this week through Saturday.

The Heights located behind Naugatuck Police Station, 211 Spring St., will be open for storm-related brush and branches from Thursday through Sunday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Only storm related branches, brush, and trees will be accepted. This area is open to Naugatuck residents only and is not intended for the use of contractors.

Storm-related branches, brush, and trees will be collected curbside during the week of Nov. 12 to Nov. 16. Crews will only collect storm-damaged wood, no building materials will be collected. Residents are asked to have materials in a neat pile at their curb by Nov. 12. Crews will not return to neighborhoods where material wasn’t curbside.
