Update: Motorcyclist injured in Monday night accident

NAUGATUCK — A motorcycle driver sustained a head injury in an accident Monday night on Cotton Hollow Road.

According to Lt. Robert Harrison of the Naugatuck Police Department, Jakub Vylasek, 28, of 106 Beacon Valley Road, Beacon Falls, was traveling eastbound on Cotton Hollow Road when he lost control of his 2001 Suzuki GSXR600 and struck the pavement.

Vylasek was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and sustained serious head injuries, Harrison said.

Police, fire and ambulance crews were called to the scene at 8:04 p.m., said Harrison.

He was transported to Saint Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury where, according to the hospital, he is listed in critical but stable condition.

No charges have been filed at this time, but the incident is under investigation by the Accident Reconstruction Team. Harrison said that all factors are being investigated.
