WATERBURY — A Naugatuck teen died following a motorcycle crash Tuesday afternoon on Route 8 north.

Rian Andrade, 18, of 57 Prospect St., suffered fatal injuries after the Honda CB900F motorcycle he was riding, for unknown reasons, veered into the left lane, crossed the grass center median and struck a metal guardrail, state police said Wednesday.

Andrade was taken by Trinity of New England EMS to Waterbury Hospital, where he later died of his injuries, police said.

The accident occurred just south of Exit 30 at about 2:40 p.m., police said. State Department of Transportation crash trucks responded to the scene to assist in closing the highway for approximately two hours as state police conducted their investigation.

That investigation continues and police ask anyone who may have witnessed the crash to call Troop A in Southbury at 203-267-2200.
