Body of missing man found in Hudson River

NAUGATUCK — The body of a man found in the Hudson River has been identified as 39-year-old Armando Camara of Naugatuck, according to police.

Police reported the body was discovered Saturday afternoon in the Hudson River near Beacon, N.Y.

Camara was last seen by his wife at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 1 before leaving in his pickup truck. Camara texted his wife at 11 p.m. the same night indicting he may be in the area of Newburgh, N.Y. His truck was found on the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge with his wallet and keys inside.

Camara was suspected to have jumped off the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge Oct. 1. Police agencies from New York spent the next several days searching the river for Camara.

Lt. Bryan Cammarata, spokesman for the Naugatuck Police Department, said in a press release, the investigation has ruled out foul play and the death is not being investigated as suspicious.
