PROSPECT — Prospect mayoral candidates, Republican incumbent Robert Chatfield and unaffiliated challenger Anthony Dorso, will go head-to-head on air tomorrow.

The two candidates will be guests on “Talk of the Town,” with Larry Riskin on WATR 1320-AM Tuesday at 10:10 a.m.
Chatfield is seeking his 18th term in office and has led the town for 34 years.

“I’m not finished yet,” he said, in an earlier interview. “I think there’s more to do in Prospect.”

If elected, Chatfield said his priorities would be saving as much money as “legally possible,” and investing in roads and infrastructure and improving the police department and programs for the elderly.

Dorso is a local business owner running on the Democratic ticket. He is new to politics, having served in an appointed position on the Inlands Wetlands Board since March.

Dorso said Prospect has become stagnant under many years of Chatfield’s reign and it’s time for a fresh face and new ideas.

If elected, Dorso said his priorities would be cutting spending, making government more transparent, and working closely with Region 16 to plan for the town’s future needs.

“I believe the spending is out of control and the property taxes keep going up,” Dorso said in an earlier interview.
