NAUGATUCK — Local and state responders rescued a man who fell down an embankment in the Naugatuck State Forest on Thursday at about 7 p.m.

The man was walking along a road just past the High Rock Shooting Range, in Naugatuck on the Beacon Falls line, when he fell, according to Fire Chief Ken Hanks. The drop is about 100 feet in places along that road, but Hanks said he did not know how far the man fell.

He was responsive when firefighters pulled up in a rescue basket and was taken to a hospital in Waterbury. Hanks did not know the extent of the man’s injuries.

The Naugatuck Fire Department was unable to identify the man as of this post.
