Man reports sexual offense 14 years after alleged incident

PROSPECT — Prospect police are investigating allegations made by a 29-year-old man that he was the victim of a sexual offense 14 years ago.

According to a police report issued at Troop I in Bethany, the man went to the Prospect Resident State Trooper’s office on June 15 to report an incident of sexual abuse. The man, who was not identified, reported when he was 15 years old he worked at a deli in town during the summer. The man reported the male owner of the deli touched his genial area once during the summer. Police did not identify the deli or the deli owner.

At the time of the alleged incident, the report stated, the deli owner was in his early 30s. The man reported to police that no further incidents occurred.

According to the police report, the former deli owner moved out of the state and is believed to now live in a southern state along the east coast.

No further details were available. As of this post, the investigation was open.
