NAUGATUCK — An explosion in a small recreational vehicle on Lines Hill Road Extension early this morning injured a man who was living inside.

Firefighters were called at about 4 a.m. to the camper, which was in the backyard of a house, fire officials said. The man was taken to Bridgeport Hospital with burns to his face and hands, Deputy Fire Chief Ellen Murray said. He is conscious and able to speak, Murray said.

The camper’s walls were destroyed in the explosion, Fire Chief Ken Hanks said. Fire marshals are currently investigating the explosion as an accident and police are not involved, Murray said. Propane may have contributed to the explosion, Hanks said.
