PROSPECT — A local man has been indicted on charges that he illegally purchased and possessed firearms, according to federal authorities.
The indictment accuses 31-year-old Frank Moss of misrepresenting himself when purchasing 11 firearms at gun stores in Wolcott, Seymour and Waterbury.
Moss was charged with eight counts of making a false statement during the purchase of a firearm and seven counts of possession of a firearm by an individual who is an unlawful user of, or addicted to, any controlled substance.
Federal authorities say Moss lied when he denied being an unlawful user of, or addicted to, controlled substances when he purchased the guns.
Moss pleaded not guilty in federal court in New Haven Dec. 18 and was released on a $50,000 bond. He faces a maximum term in prison of 10 years on each count.
