FireDepartmentNAUGATUCK — Firefighters had to cut the roof off of a minivan to extricate the driver after the van rolled over before 8:30 a.m. on Route 8 near exit 29.

The minivan appeared to have struck the jersey barrier before it flipped to rest on the driver’s side, Fire Chief Ken Hanks said. Only the driver, a man, was inside, and he was taken to Saint Mary’s Hospital for back pain, Hanks said.

Traffic was reduced to the shoulder for about an hour while firefighters were on the scene, Hanks said.
