Man charged after confrontation with firefighters

PROSPECT — A 47-year-old town man was arrested March 18 after police say he head-butted a firefighter.

Troop I reported that officers were dispatched to a report of a residential fire at 176 Straightsville Road at about 9 p.m. When officers arrived, police reported, Christopher Caporaso, who lives at the house, was yelling at and interfering with firefighters on the scene. Police reported Caporaso then head-butted a firefighter.

The investigation revealed that there was no structure fire. Rather, police reported, syrup was being made at the home, and what was thought to be smoke was actually steam.

Caporaso was charged with interfering with an officer, assault on public safety/emergency personnel and disorderly conduct. He was released on a $2,500 bond and scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on April 2.
