PROSPECT — Town Council member Robert Doyon has relinquished his seat.
Doyon, a Republican who has served on the council for over a decade, announced his resignation at the council’s Aug. 20 meeting. His resignation is effective Aug. 30.
Council Chairman Tom Galvin said Doyon was resigning because he was selling his home in Prospect and moving out of town.
Council member Patricia Geary wished Doyon goodbye and thanked him for his work.
“You’ve given a lot of time and a lot of positive effects on a lot of issues,” Geary said.
Mayor Robert Chatfield said Doyon has been both the vice chairman and chairman of the council during his tenure. During his time as chairman, Doyon would have taken over the office of mayor in the event of a prolonged absence from the mayor, Chatfield said.
“I was always very comfortable with him as chairman,” Chatfield said.
That same evening Galvin announced that Republican Alexander Delelle will fill the vacant seat until the elections in November.
Delelle is on the ballot for the council in November.
“He will do a fine filling the unexpired term of Mr. Doyon,” Chatfield said.
Delelle has served on the Planning and Zoning Commission for 10 years and is currently the vice chairman. He submitted his letter of resignation for the commission Aug. 20 so that he can take the seat on the council.
David Santoro, a current alternate on the Planning and Zoning Commission, will take the empty seat left by Delelle.
