Literacy Volunteers of Greater Waterbury is now accepting registrations for the winter session of volunteer orientations.

The organization trains and supports volunteers who teach adults to read, write, speak, and understand English. No prior teaching experience is necessary, but volunteers must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent and possess strong oral and written English skills.

The winter training program begins the week of Jan. 23.  Individuals who are interested in learning more about volunteering in adult literacy education are encouraged to attend an orientation on Jan. 11, 6:30 p.m., at the Whittemore Memorial Library in Naugatuck.
