Letter: Uncle Sam gets tax profit

To the editor,

When manufacturers make products outside the country it is proposed that the products be taxed when they are brought into the USA for sale. This sounds fair, but look at who gets to profit from the tax. It’s good old Uncle Sammy, hiding in the swamp.

It would be better if there was a way to have that tax be given as a discount on the purchase of similar domestically-produced products. This would be very complicated, so why not simply have the Feds use all the money to purchase “buy American” advertising?
