To the editor,

Representative Theresa Conroy has shown her solid support for reducing Beacon Falls’ energy footprint and cutting its electricity costs. This year, she co-sponsored legislation that was passed by the General Assembly, SB 394, An Act Concerning Virtual Net Metering and Certain Low Emission Generation Projects. The legislation enables Beacon Falls to benefit from the Zero Renewable Energy Credit (ZREC) through the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.

The project allows Beacon Falls to reduce the town’s energy footprint and cut the municipal electric bill. The project could save Beacon Falls more than $900,000 in municipal electric costs over the next several decades.

In March, she testified before the legislature’s Energy Committee in favor of the bill. She asked the committee members to support expanding the cap for communities that would otherwise make great candidates for this credit program. She wanted to allow Beacon Falls to reduce our municipal energy footprint while reducing costs into the future.

Theresa Conroy led the charge on this important legislation for Beacon Falls. We need to re-elect her so she can continue her great work.
