Lawlor named Elk of the Year

NaugyTownHall2NAUGATUCK — Thomas Lawlor has been selected as the 2013 Elk of the Year by the Naugatuck Elks Lodge #967.

Lawlor, 63 of Naugatuck, has been an Elk for 22 years. He graduated from Naugatuck High School in 1967 and served in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1971. In 1970, Lawlor was sent to Vietnam where he saw combat with the 11th Armored Cavalry.

Upon his honorable discharge from the military in 1971, Lawlor returned home and began working in the construction field. Eventually, he started his own business, Tom Lawlor and Son Construction, which he has owned and operated for 30 years.

Lawlor has been married to his wife, Dora for 44 years. They have two children, Thomas Charles Lawlor and Anne Theresa Lawlor-Ouimet and four grandchildren, Kaylee, Thomas, Jack, and Kassidy.

“A great friend and family man, Tom can always be counted on to help those who need him. His smile and quick Irish wit make him an unforgettable individual,” stated a release issued by the Elks.

Lawlor will be honored Feb. 16 at the Elks Lodge, 758 Rubber Ave. Tickets are available at the lodge or by calling Joe at (203) 723-0278. The price is $30 and includes dinner and dancing.
