HARTFORD — State Rep. David Labriola (R-131) has been appointed to the Municipal Fund Distribution Task Force by Connecticut House Republican Leader Larry Cafero (R-Norwalk).

“I’m honored to have been chosen to represent the people of my district and the state of Connecticut on this important task force,” Labriola said in a news release. “Making sure state funding is properly and equitably distributed is critically important job in light of the state’s current difficult financial position.”

The task force was created this past legislative session to study the distribution of state funds to municipalities, including payment in lieu of taxes for certain local and property taxes (PILOT), the Mashantucket Pequot and Mohegan Fund, education equalization grants, and public and nonpublic school transportation grants or reimbursement.

The task force must evaluate the equity, efficiency, and continued viability of these funds’ distribution and report its findings and recommendations to the General Assembly’s Appropriations Committee by Jan.1. The task force will be dissolved when it submits the report or Jan. 1, whichever is later.
