SEYMOUR — Naugatuck Valley Health District is offering free home radon test kits for residents.

Radon is a naturally occurring colorless and odorless radioactive gas that can impact indoor air quality and people’s health. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, an estimated 15,000 to 30,000 U.S. citizens die from radon-induced lung cancer each year.

The health district, which serves Ansonia, Beacon Falls, Derby, Naugatuck, Seymour and Shelton, has a limited number of test kits. For information or a test kit, call 203-881-3255, ext. 108.
