NAUGATUCK — The annual Harvest Moon Festival will rise for the 30th time Friday.

The festival, which is sponsored by Boy Scout Troop 102, will take place from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday and from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Saturday on the Town Green.

Harvest Moon Festival Chairman Ray Blum said about 80 vendors will be at the festival.

“The focus of the festival is primarily three-fold, vendors offering handcrafted items, businesses and groups offering community service, and good food,” Blum said in an email.

Blum said the festival is a family-orientated event and will feature back massages, shopping, children activities and community services for those in need.

In addition to the events that are taking place people a wide variety of food will also be available. Troop 102, which is also celebrating its 100th year, will be selling fried dough and boy scouts from Troop 138 will be selling cheeseburgers and cheese steak sandwiches. The money from those sales will go back to the troops.

Blum said he’s pleased to see how many come out to the festival year after year.

“It’s nice to see the community come out to enjoy the event every year,” Blum said.
