HARTFORD — State Sen. Joan Hartley (D-15) recently received the Gov. Ella Grasso Award.
Hartley and U.S. Representative-elect Elizabeth Esty (CT-5) were presented the award by the Waterbury Young Democrats.
“To receive an award named after Gov. Ella Grasso is a great distinction and immensely gratifying. Gov. Grasso’s legacy has become synonymous with overcoming prejudice and sexism and successfully helping those who desperately needed a hand up,” Hartley said in a prepared statement. “Gov. Grasso inspired an entire generation of Connecticut residents, particularly women, as she worked throughout her career to improve the lives of all she touched.”
