WATERBURY — Connecticut Community Foundation is currently accepting grant requests for its first round of funding in 2014.

The foundation serves the Greater Waterbury and the Litchfield Hills areas. The foundation’s grants will emphasize the following priorities: programs that align with local health priorities and encompass access to care, increased availability of healthy food, mental health and substance abuse, fitness, prevention and safe neighborhoods;  programs that promote cultural participation across all ages including an arts and youth initiative, sponsorships, and Lifelong Libraries initiative; programs that encourage community conversations on education, aging and regional issues, and support the growth of citizens through leadership programs and involvement in the nonprofit community; programs that promote land conservation and preservation of water quality and efforts to increase environmental awareness in residents of all ages.

In addition, the foundation will continue special initiatives including LitLinks, Nonprofit Excellence, Pathways for Older Adults, Women’s Issues, and International Youth Travel. CCF also welcomes proposals that address key community needs, such as community development and economic security.
