NAUGATUCK — A gas leak on Hoadley Street closed a portion of the borough street Friday.

According to Capt. James Trzaski of the Naugatuck Fire Department, a gas leak closed the street between Rubber Avenue and Hoadley Terrace at about 1:15 p.m. Friday.

Trzaski said that the department noticed high levels of gas in the storm drains. The cause of the leak was unknown as of this post.

Nobody was evacuated from the area, but the road between Rubber Avenue and Hoadley Terrace was closed as Yankee Gas responded to the scene.

According to Lt. Bryan Cammarata, the leak was repaired by about 9:30 p.m. The road remained closed until about midnight as utility crews patched the roadway.
