NAUGATUCK — The Naugatuck YMCA recently received funding from the Ion Bank Foundation to support the YMCA’s national Safety Around Water and swim scholarship programs.

The Safety Around Water program teaches children how to be safe around water. The free program includes waterfront, boating and backyard pool safety.

After completing the program, children are prepared to transition into swim lessons. The swim scholarship assists in covering the cost of these lessons for families in need of assistance.

The program is set to run for children ages 3 to 12 starting June 28 through July 1. Registration is open. For information, email Ian Gatavaski at igatavaski@naugatuckymca.org.
