Foundation awards grants to local agencies

Several local nonprofit organizations recently received grants through the Connecticut Community Foundation.

Hidden Acres Therapeutic Riding Center in Naugatuck received $15,000 to support its Pathways Program and $10,236 for participant scholarships.

Jane Doe No More in Naugatuck received $2,110 to support the R.A.P.E. (Raising Awareness through Personal Experience) Survivors Training program.

Beacon Falls Library received $525 to cover the cost of presenter fees for programs on memory, sleep and mindfulness.

The Naugatuck YMCA received $15,000 to support instructor costs for a range of fitness programs offered for older adults at the YMCA and offsite.

The Whittemore Library in Naugatuck received $2,500 to support instructor fees and materials for introductory computer classes offered to seniors.

Naugatuck High School received $14,400 for a substance abuse prevention and intervention program.

Human Resources Development Agency in Naugatuck received $18,835 to continue to provide afternoon medical transportation to Naugatuck residents.

StayWell Health Center, Inc. in Waterbury received $49,150 to purchase medical equipment for a permanent health clinic that will be located at 30 Church St. in Naugatuck. StayWell also received $9,600 for computer software and hardware as well as tablets for the new health center in Naugatuck.
